HUGO M. HARDY TRAINSPOTTING

‘Trainspotting’ is the most recent track from London’s most impressive newcomer, Hugo M. Hardy. Something that threads through his (admittedly, very small) discography, is a relatable melancholy; a raw voice and a distant, nostalgic instrumental. He explains that the track is “about the nostalgic feeling of watching the people around me growing up, and feeling like the glory days are behind us. It’s quite self-reflective, and also hints towards me questioning whether I’ve made the right decisions.” Each layer of meaning shines through with as much depth as those he has been compared to (Bon Iver, James Blake etc.), while his intelligent approach to arrangement crafts something truly addictive. His debut album is in the pipeline. -Dan Peeke
